…Firstly I wanted to visit the opposite shore of the bay to look at the mouth of the river Shuja. The church was whitening there, I rent a big boat, two rowers from the settlement started to row. And after two hours I was on that shore. The shore seemed to be within about 2-3 verst, but it turned out that there are 10 verst to it. But I could not see the river's Shuja bank from there. In the corner of the bay there is a quite narrow passage which connects lake Onego and lake Logmozero, from which the river Shuja begins. There is a big old church on the large naked rock near this passage. It is Solomenskij churchyard. Several rocks are protruding here from the range, which goes along the east side of the bay. Is is a picturesque view. Far away, on the other bank Petrozavodsk is situated, on the left you can see wild rocks, on the right – The Logmozero's shore covered with thick bushes… Translated by Mariya Busygina, 2008 |
