The Korels war casual clothes, and as for their national costumes they have lost their ethnographical peculiarity. They wear white linen shirts in summer and white 'porti' which shows that the Chud people lived here many years ago. Women have kept their ethnographical colour of clothes, and if one look at the crowd of Korelian women dressed for a holiday, one may easily notice the combination of different colours: black with moron, with brown, and even yellow. This is undoubtedly the sign of steadfastness and survival of the Finnish tribe. Translated by Maria, 2006 |
