Cemetery of the Freedom and Kinship Warriors

Memorial to Heroes of the Independence and Kinship Wars located on the Great Cemetery of Kuopio. On September 12, 1920 there was unveiled the granite statue "Broken Chains" by the sculptor Eemil Halonen.

Among others, here are buried Elias von Hertzen – a participant in the White Sea Karelian Expedition, who died of peritonitis in the village of Panozero, and eight kinship warriors fallen on the Olonets Expedition.
