Lutheran church in Kalevala

Lutheran parish in Kalevala (before 1963 – Uhtua) was formed in 1999 as a result of detachment from Kostomuksha parish.

During its first years the parish used a building of old school.

Works on the place of future wooden church (Karelskaya street) began in the end of August, 1999, under the guidance of building master Jari Helmisaari, who was also the project's author.

The church was blessed October 25, 2001.

Total amount of freewill offerings, mainly received from Kainuu diocese, was about 4.5 million rubles.
