Nurmo monument of heroes

The monument of Heroes was unveiled in Nurmo on 20 August 1921. The monument is inscribed:

For the native land,
for the Fatherland
these heroes passed
through to death.
This hill is now
a crown to the heroes.
Come to the grave silently
to pray.

Among others, the name of volunteer Antti Viljo Haapoja (27.04.1886 – 01.05.1919) can be read on the monument.

On July 1, 1951, the sculpture "Blessing and peace" made by Kalervo Kallio was erected in the memorial cemetery.
