Sortavala – Maiju Lassila

Maiju Lassila (Algot Tietäväinen Untola, 28.11.1868 – 21.5.1918) – a well known Finnish author, journalist and revolution activist in the future – in 1887 had entered to teacher's seminary in Sortavala and graduated from it in August 23, 1891.

In 1978 was opened a memorial board on remained intact building of former teacher's seminary (built in 1880).

In 2011 a memorial board was removed. The building was completely destroyed by fire on September 5, 2012.
