Monument at the grave of the heroes of freedom was unveiled near the Ylihärmä church on March 15, 1921.
The inscriptions on the monument says: ”To the heroes of freedom”, ”1918” and ”Expensive, oh so expensive is the price of freedom”. Monument contains the names of 28 natives of Ylihärmä, fallen in the Finnish War of Independence and in the Olonets Karelia.
Jäger Vice Feldwebel Kustaa Rintala fell on the front of Tuloksa River on June 6, 1919 and Juha Vesiluoma fell on June 13, 1919 in the battle of Polovina Village.
