Dr. Brotherus fell on the 13th of this month in the battle of Polovina Village, having gone to help the wounded on barbed wire platoon commander Erkki Korhonen (from Sortavala), who bravely attacked and brought down a large birch over barbed wire of bloody Reds to pave the way for the advance.

When Dr. Brotherus began to give some pain-reliever to Korhonen, who was wounded to the stomach, Korhonen got a bullet in his head and died immediately; at the same time, bullets also pierced the head and chest of Dr. Brotherus and he died a few hours later when he was taken to hospital.
