Memorial to Vehniäinen long-range reconnaissance patrol

On May 26, 1991 the memorial to Vehniäinen long-range reconnaissance patrol of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Headquarters was unveiled in the courtyard of the former Priest High House in the Rautjärvi. In 1940-1941 the Priest High House was used by the Finnish military intelligence as a secret base.

Monument was designed by the artist Juhani Vepsäläinen. The plaque on the stone contains the text:

FOR THE FREEDOM AND HONOR OF FINLAND

Vehniäinen long-range reconnaissance patrol of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Headquarters sent in 1941 its first parties from here

The second plaque contains the text:

VEHNIÄINEN LONG-RANGE RECONNAISSANCE PATROL ACTED IN 1941-1944 ACROSS THE ENTIRE FRONT FROM KARELIAN ISTHMUS TO THE LAPLAND
